YoYoMa, cellist and songwriter, claims that STEM are important subjects to learn in school, but we need to add “empathetic reasoning of the arts” in our education system. People who support his opinion of STEAM believe that art is just as essential as the subjects in STEM, moreover, art allows creative thinking which could be significant towards STEM. Art can help students to learn in unique and different ways, putting those skills to use towards the subjects of STEM. Though, other critics might say art is pointless to be educated on in school, students should continue to follow the STEM program as it is. Some may also argue that the arts don’t correspond with one another and have no benefits for us.
