Blog #13-They Say/I Say

Do you see any patterns? I noticed that I used many repetition of words like “I agree,” “They,” “That,” “This,” and “I think.” I automatically assume the reader reading my essay knows who or what I’m talking about. I also realized that in body paragraphs, if I’m talking about a specific subject, I use that word a lot. Though, I’m pretty good at writing the content of my writing.

Do you rely on certain devices more than others? I think transitions are good devices because it’s easier to understand what the writer is trying to say. I realized I use transition words and key terms that I’m used to in my writing. I use the words from the first question, but it can easily be fixed.

Are there any passages that are hard to follow-if so, can you make them easier to read by trying any of the other devices discussed in this chapter? The repetition of words that I use are things I’ve already stated throughout my essay, just described in a different way. In this chapter, it stated to find synonyms of the word you want to repeat. This helps a lot with your essay because it’ll make it have a better flow.
